So,  let me   start  at  the beginning...

Max and Maiden, affectionately named after my three beautiful sons, was fostered by the notion that the average and the ordinary was just not enough.  I wasn’t fond of the cookie cutter items available on the market for my own special celebrations and important events.  I could never find exactly what I was looking for, it was then that I decided to take off with the millions of ideas swirling around my head and start my design business. Since that time this business venture has taken my ideas and vision from the dining room table to high end boutiques, exclusive event planners, the most discerning brides and maybe even into the hands of a celebrity or two.

I love what I do.  There are no two ways about it.  I love the process, the planning, the collaboration and then most of all seeing my and my fellow colleagues vision come to life on event day.  I love the bond that I create with my couples, helping them bring their thoughts together and the joy that comes from this relationship.  This is usually one of the most important times in my client's lives and I get to be a part of it and I see that as an honor and a gift.

My philosophy in life has always been, “it’s all in the details”.  It is all about creating that perfect sketch, coupling the right fonts and discovering that quintessential color combination. I am smitten with the feel of handmade paper and my infatuation continues with those envelopes and the most beautiful liner.  I love the perfect flower, an embossed font and all the "fluff", but what I find to be the most important is a design should always carry a little pop of the “unexpected”.  It should have some sort of special little detail that speaks the couples love story.  It is those extra elements that truly make a piece unique.

Although what was once a hobby and now a full time business, one thing has remained a constant, I do this for the sheer joy of it. The delightful expression on a client's face when they open something that I have created just for them.  That awe is something I strive to invent through my work. I believe in what the great Edgar Degas once said, “Art isn’t what you see, but what you make others see”. I love making beautiful paper, I am passionate about events and gatherings both big and small and I welcome the opportunity to make a Max and Maiden design a part of your next special celebration.
